Covington - Myrtle Newman, 91, of Covington died at 6:55 a.m. Monday in Covington Manor Health Center where she had been a patient about one month. Mrs. Newman was a member of Osborne Prairie Christian Church, Win One Class of Covington United Methodist Church, Fountain County Farm Bureau, Fountain County Garden Club and Troy Home Economica Club. She was born Aug 26, 1887 at Veedersburg, a daughter of John and Samantha Romine Labaw. She married Clarence Newman who died in February 1959. Surviving are a son, Kenneth Newman, Rt 3, Covington; two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Dorothy) Armstrong of Chester, Va; and Mrs. Charles (Alberta) Fogg of Bradenton, Fla; a sister, Martha LaBaw of LA; 9 grandchildren and 11 greats. She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and three sisters. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in DeVerter FH at Covington with Rev Robert Karn and Rev. Robert H. Miller officiating. Burial in Osborne Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the FH 2-4 or 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. - kbz

  Myrtle Newman, 91, of 516 Union St., Covington passed away at 6:15 a.m. Monday, February 19, 1979 at Covington Manor Nursing Center where she had been a patient one month.
  She was born on August 26, 1887 in Veedersburg, the daughter of John and Samantha Romine Labaw.  She was married to Clarence Newman who preceded in death on February 1959.
  Survivors include one son, Kenneth Newman of Route 3, Covington; two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Dorothy) Armstrong of Chester, Va., and Mrs. Charles (Alberta) Fogg of Bradenton, Fla.; one sister, Martha Labaw of Los Angeles, Calif.; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Harold, two brothers and three sisters.  Mrs. Newman was a member of Win One class of Covington United Methodist Church. She was a member of Farm Bureau, Fountain County Garden Club, and Friday Home Ec Club. She was a member of Osborne Prairie Christian church. -s
